In Memory of Jim Narragon

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jim Narragon, a beloved father, brother and friend. Jim departed this world on June 17, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, integrity and joy. His unwavering spirit and remarkable character touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

 

Born August 12, 1958, in Campbell, California, Jim was a compassionate, but very competitive child. He had a knack for helping others and that quality became the pillar of his remarkable life.

After Jim graduated from Campbell High School in 1976, he earned his BA in Economics and Psychology at UC Santa Cruz, and then at San Jose State, he earned his master's degree in social work and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

In his professional career, he excelled at helping the members of society who needed assistance with homelessness, addictions, abuse, and illness among other challenges. Jim's tireless work ethic and his unwavering commitment to helping others, set an inspiring example for those who worked with him.

 

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jim will be remembered for his generous and unwavering devotion to his family. He was a loving father to his son, Emil, and daughter, Sara. He cherished every moment he spent with his family, creating a loving family home environment. Jim's children were his pride and joy and he instilled in them the values of compassion, perseverance and the importance of following one's dreams.

 

In addition to his family, Jim had a vast network of friends and loved ones who he held in the highest regard. He had the exceptional ability to make people feel valued and understood. His compassionate nature made him a magnet for friendship. Jim was always there to offer a listening ear, a helping hand or a word of encouragement. His friendships were built on trust, mutual respect, and shared love for life.

 

Outside of his professional and personal endeavors, Jim mastered Tae Kwon Do (he was a second Don Black Belt, and he also took a lot of pride in teaching and coaching the Tae Kwon Do classes), he participated in marathons, he loved to jog, body surf, fish and camp. Jim loved all kinds of music and attended many concerts over the years. He was an avid fan of the 49ers, Giants and Warriors.

 

Jim's departure from this world leaves an immense void that can never be filled. His profound impact on those around him will forever be cherished and remembered. Although he is no longer physically present, his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us.

 

A memorial service to celebrate Jim's life will be held at the Seymour Center, 100 Mcallister Way in Santa Cruz, CA, on Sunday, 8/27, 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM

Jim Narragon will be forever missed but never forgotten. May his soul rest in eternal peace and may his memory continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
